Welcome!

Welcome! This is a place to share how we celebrate & deepen our relationship to Nature. Here you will find stories, images, & ideas about wilderness, human nature, & soulfulness. Drawing from the experiences of everyday living, the topics on this blog include: forays into the natural world, the writing life, community service, meditation, creativity, grief & loss, inspiration, & whatever else emerges from these. I invite you on this exploration of the wild within & outside of us: the inner/outer landscape.

Your Turn...

It is your turn to write. Don't be shy. Everybody has something to say.
Here's how to indulge yourself:
Set aside at least fifteen minutes. Don't limit yourself to that time; you're free to write as long as you want.
Choose one of the following photographs. Select one that evokes something strong in you - disgust, pleasure, a memory, fear, a bodily sensation, words...
Be sure the photograph is visible to you the entire time you engage in this exercise.
Now, grab a pen that is easy for you to write with. (Yes, this means a pen...not a pencil, or a computer keyboard, or a crayon.)
Find some unlined paper (computer printer paper works well). Do not allow yourself to be boxed in by lines. Nobody has to see this, so it doesn't matter if you write in circles, spirals, upside down or sideways. It does not matter if this is legible to anybody else.
Now, turn the paper so that it is in landscape orientation (longer from left to right).
Set a timer for fifteen minutes. Do not allow yourself to be interrupted; finding a quiet place of solitude will offer you the freedom you need to proceed.
When you are all set, start the timer's countdown and write.

How was that?
