Welcome!

Welcome! This is a place to share how we celebrate & deepen our relationship to Nature. Here you will find stories, images, & ideas about wilderness, human nature, & soulfulness. Drawing from the experiences of everyday living, the topics on this blog include: forays into the natural world, the writing life, community service, meditation, creativity, grief & loss, inspiration, & whatever else emerges from these. I invite you on this exploration of the wild within & outside of us: the inner/outer landscape.

Burning to be Told, or, We Will Hold You Well as You Summon the Courage

Which story waits in you?
Describe its shape, texture, smell. Tell the world how it holds you, like a vice grip or tenderly swaddled.

Which story breathes with you?
Unfold the inhalation from the exhalation. Spread it out and examine its wings. Notice where it is inseparable from you, but only if you dare peek into the thin dark crevasse.

Which story waits for you?
Tell your audience with compassion how long you can stand to keep this rolled up within you. Begin an explanation for us of why it is still not time to birth this thing.

(Although we reserve the right to encourage you to waste no more time.)

Which story teaches you?
Weave the fibers of its lessons into a complex tapestry. Note the nubs, pattern shifts, apparent flaws, inherent beauty.

Which story illuminates your day, a sun that warms you…and is your nighttime guide, a bright moon to bless you?
How does it lie down beside you or help you grow into your wholeness?
And how is this the one that can be both excruciatingly honest as well as brightly peace-giving?

For it is this story that beckons.

Calls from deep inside you. To the world.

We need your story. We need you to bear witness to yourself and bare yourself to us.

Whether you sing or strum, orate, dance, educate, love, paint, organize, make peace, survive, save nature, account, protect, heal, companion the dying… or write…, just summon the courage and be your story in all its fecund splendor!
