Welcome!

Welcome! This is a place to share how we celebrate & deepen our relationship to Nature. Here you will find stories, images, & ideas about wilderness, human nature, & soulfulness. Drawing from the experiences of everyday living, the topics on this blog include: forays into the natural world, the writing life, community service, meditation, creativity, grief & loss, inspiration, & whatever else emerges from these. I invite you on this exploration of the wild within & outside of us: the inner/outer landscape.

Baja Reveries

Touching the mama gray whale's back was beyond heaven. Total immersion in bliss: I giggled so hard I cried. When she rolled underneath our child's-toy-of-a-zodiac, I only briefly wondered if we'd be upturned; it was surreal and wordless wonder.

As if the rolling curved body, silkier than life, had frozen mid-pace: everything inside of me also paused, still and in utter surrender to dolphin joy.

Kayaking alongside mangroves...becoming the reflection on the water. What I felt and saw seamlessly became One. I was made whole, if even for just that instant.

Those three: tremendous once-in-a-lifetime gifts, transformative moments.

We cannot allow ourselves to stay tethered to and entangled in the small-heartedness of fear and worry, or anger and blame. Our souls depend upon appreciating, too - with every fiber of our breath - those tiny daily gifts... Dew, Rose Scent, Salmon Sky, Whispering Breeze, Tangy Fallen Apple ...Because it is these which, by way of our gratitude, become our saviors, our sanity, our completion as whole and wholly interconnected Naturebeings.
