Welcome!

Welcome! This is a place to share how we celebrate & deepen our relationship to Nature. Here you will find stories, images, & ideas about wilderness, human nature, & soulfulness. Drawing from the experiences of everyday living, the topics on this blog include: forays into the natural world, the writing life, community service, meditation, creativity, grief & loss, inspiration, & whatever else emerges from these. I invite you on this exploration of the wild within & outside of us: the inner/outer landscape.

Hearth: comfort, beauty, nourishment for the soul

TEALarbor stories’ “Hearth” blog posts offer a tiny, gentle respite during this incredible transition we’re in. Rest for a few seconds here in the hearth of everyday nature and creativity.

"Bee Dance"

Afterward, I asked myself how long I had been standing there transfixed. I have no idea. It was the same blooming bush I frequently pass. But on one particular day last week, it caught my attention anew. It was not because of the vibrant pink flowers, as usual. It was the sound that stopped me mid-pace in my brisk walk. A beautiful chorus of bees ... busy at work on the many blossoms. I watched them. Then I focused on just one bee - the one you see in the video here. He climbed deep inside the flower, head first, becoming a dark shadow. As he emerged (facing forward), his legs seemed to "play" the sweet flower parts. It reminded me of human legs playing the pedals on an organ. And the melody was the buzzing that he and his fellows were producing as they tasted each fleshy flower. Nature catches us, placing us in a timeless space. It allows us to see old familiar things in wondrous new ways.
