Just below, you will find this week’s landscape collages inspired by my own photographs. What I especially noticed in the process of creating these is how much reverie goes into each piece. Looking at the colors and shapes in each photo, noting the location, and remembering who I was with (or if I was alone) have become the story foundation for each collage. As I select the papers, prepare the shapes, and begin positioning the fragments, something much larger begins to emerge: a pictorial memory of place, of relationships, of emotion…
I’m also including here the actual landscape photographs.
The collages this week include: a sunrise over my back yard in January; Blakely Harbor, Bainbridge in January five years ago; a waterfront home’s tiny garden overlooking the Sound on Bainbridge a year ago this month; a family trip to the Dingle Peninsula in Ireland in July 2019; the exquisite Whitsunday Islands in Australia where my sisters and I snorkeled in November 2022; a rainbow eucalyptus in Hawaii, December 2018; and the waxing gibbous moon eight days ago.
What and who do you see around you in Earth’s magnificence?
