I have some amazing, beautiful people surrounding me on this life journey. I want to honor all of them publicly. But I don’t have a blog space big enough for that. Instead, here are a few brief examples:
Today, I had a conversation with a sweet, longtime friend. We’ve definitely seen each other through some stuff! Our talks always go right to the heart of the matter; rarely do we even exchange the basic news of our lives. What we care about is living fully, with presence, and offering our best gifts in service to the needy world. If our life circumstances come to bear on that mission, then we talk about them. Mostly, we enjoy a loving support-fest.
This followed an especially jubilant but thoughtful session with a client who has just this week achieved a huge milestone. Much of our discussion focused on the rituals he did to mark the transition and to honor the multifarious emotions attending his project’s completion. But it isn’t just the ending of something; it’s also the beginning¾a door opening to something else, something he’s waiting to discover. Mostly, we appreciate the process of our shared, deep purpose.
Yesterday morning I ran into the neighbor whose life purpose niggles at my writing projects list; I want to find others like her so that I can compose a book about people doing pretty, darn amazing loveworks in a quiet, understated way: humble people doing transformative work. We met at a local park and chatted while she awaited the arrival of a friend to walk the path with her and her children, and while I awaited the arrival of my client. She never really has a complaint though the heart wrenching work she is called to do would be considered far outside most people’s capacity. Mostly, we find one mutually-held value per conversation and share examples of how that shows up for us.
I want to encourage you to remember who it is that loves and supports you unconditionally.
I also want to encourage you to reach out to one of your co-journeyers and share with them your specific gratitude.
It’s nearly the spring equinox (March 20th): let your gratitude and appreciation blossom, blessing someone you care about.
