Welcome!
Welcome! This is a place to share how we celebrate & deepen our relationship to Nature. Here you will find stories, images, & ideas about wilderness, human nature, & soulfulness. Drawing from the experiences of everyday living, the topics on this blog include: forays into the natural world, the writing life, community service, meditation, creativity, grief & loss, inspiration, & whatever else emerges from these. I invite you on this exploration of the wild within & outside of us: the inner/outer landscape.

Moonset and Sunrise Last Sunday Near Home
I'm on the other side of our beautiful earth from my home, in the southern hemisphere. Yet when I looked up at the early morning sky today, I saw that the moon - still high overhead - was the very image of "home." The convex edge looked a bit brighter, almost tinged with liquid gold; but this was as much a happy traveler's imaginal reverie as a discernible, measurable difference from my view of the moon at home. I am comforted that no matter where I go on this planet, I am guided by the night's and daytime's heavenly orbs. While I left wintertime to enter summer just a few days ago; roaming a city that is new and unfamiliar; with English speakers whose words I sometimes cannot understand; for a business trip that is also pure pleasure, I know that I am still "at home" within myself, and with a whole earth that is watched over by the moon and sun. I know that the constancy of presence is both within and outside of me: this is joy.
